Lipscomb Insurance Group, Inc. dba Lipscomb & Associates announces the appointment of two Board Members to the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas (IIAD) Board of Directors. The new appointments are Charles Lipscomb, Director IIAD and Shyla Lankford, Vice Present Young Agents IIAD.

 IIAD has over 200 agency, carrier, and vendor members in the Independent Insurance Industry in north Texas. IIAD members forge lasting business partnerships through events hosted by IIAD including our monthly luncheons, annual golf tournament, and annual solutions marketplace event.

 IIAD education resource was created to promote advanced education in the Independent Insurance Industry in north Texas. IIAD offers a variety of continuing education courses along with keynote and guest speaks and certification courses. IIAD offers over fifteen hours of complimentary continuing education annually. Monthly luncheons feature a prominent guest speaker that speaks on a relevant and informative topic to our members.

 IIAD also work to bring new talent into the industry through programs such as InVEST, TRIIAD, AMCL and the annual Academy of Finance Exposition. IIAD is dedicated to ensuring the continued prosperity of the Independent Insurance Industry for future generations to come.

Charles Lipscomb

Born and raised in Dallas, Charles attended Cistercian Preparatory School, Vanderbilt University and UTD School of Business Management. He has been a principal of The Lipscomb Insurance Group since its inception in 1992. He served as a Producer for the preceding company, Forrest F. Lipscomb & Co., from 1989 to 1992. Charles also served as Jr. High Youth Minister at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church from 1987 to 1989.

Charles married Kelly Bowman Lipscomb in 1996 and they have 3 children. While a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Charles still serves on the Insurance Committee for St. Michael’s. He is a member of The Board of Trustees of Cistercian Preparatory School as well as The President of the Board of Trustees of Preston Hollow Presbyterian School. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. Previously, Charles was on The Board of Trustees for the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas from 2004-2006. He has also served as a Member of the Board of Trustees for The Lone Star Council of Campfire as well as a founding Board Member of The Exchange Club of Park Cities. Charles & Kelly are members of Dallas Country Club, Coon Creek Club, Idlewild Club, Calyx Club, Fossil Rim and TIGER 21.

Shyla Lankford

Began her insurance carrier in Dallas in 1997 and joined Lipscomb Insurance in 2010. She has experience in commercial insurance and risk management. During her career, Shyla has worked with companies from all industry sectors including; real estate, transportation, construction and contractors, manufacturing and public entities. Shyla is knowledgeable in all lines of property and casualty insurance as well as financial bonding. Since joining Lipscomb Insurance, Shyla has helped the agency grow with her ability to market accounts to various insurance companies and her ability to negotiate terms and conditions that are favorable for the client. In addition to being responsible for all commercial lines new business marketing, Shyla currently manages a book of commercial clients with premium volume in excess of $10 Million. In March of 2014 Lipscomb Insurance promoted Shyla to Vice President of Operations.

Shyla is known for her excellent customer service, tenacity, sense of urgency and ability to multi-task; all skills developed while managing the interests of large books of varying types of commercial companies.

Shyla has completed her professional insurance designation as a CRIS (Construction Risk & Insurance Specialist), is a Vertafore AMS360 Certified Account Manager and is in the process of completing her ARM (Associate in Risk Management).

Shyla has been involved with IIAD Young Agents for 2 years serving the previous year as the Treasurer Co-Chair. In addition to IIAD Young Agents Shyla is involved in InVEST, NetVU, Dallas Children’s Charities, Dallas CASA and Ronald McDonald House.
