The roots of the modern day Lipscomb Insurance Group began shortly after World War II, when our founder, Forrest Lipscomb, began working as a special agent with a large marine insurance company in New York. Having quickly established his reputation in the world of marine insurance, he moved to Memphis at the request of a leading cotton merchant of that day to establish an insurance operation to meet the specialized insurance needs of the cotton industry. In 1960, he moved to Dallas, at the time a large center for the cotton trade, and by the end of that decade he had created his own firm.
The company began to expand in the early 1980's diversifying its coverage offerings to match the growing complexity of its clients' needs. Today at the Lipscomb Insurance Group we continue to offer specialized marine and cotton coverage. And through our other complementary divisions, we provide all other lines of insurance as well - from personal and commercial, to health and life to highly customized insurance protection for the special risk needs of museums, collectors, cargo carriers, specialized professionals, and more.
Today the Lipscomb Insurance Group has clients with operations that span the globe. Our diversity, depth of experience and decades-old reputation allow us to meet any client need, whether that means working through our various associations with European companies, the many domestic carriers we are proud to represent, or through our Lloyd's of London partners - a relationship which has existed continuously for over half a century.
